Officials Confiscate and Destroy Nearly 7 Tons of Unregulated Goods

PHNOM PENH: The Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF) confiscated and destroyed almost seven tons of frozen meat products and mixed goods that were not in accordance with regulations.

On May 2, 2023, the professional force of Phnom Penh’s CCF branch, in cooperation with the economic police and the Dangkor district authority, confiscated a total of 6,930 kg of frozen meat products, mixed cosmetics, and snacks which were defective and non-compliant with technical regulations. The products were subsequently destroyed at a landfill in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district.

The CCF enforces laws on quality and safety management, consumer protection, and food safety, which play a central role in ensuring the quality and safety of products and services to protect consumers in addition to ensuring fair competition in the business world.

On April 22, the KPR branch of the CCF carried out an inspection in Banteay Meanchey, Kampot and Phnom Penh, which found 54 kilograms of non-compliant goods that were confiscated and stored for disposal. Fines were distributed in accordance with the law.
